26.11.2016 Treasure hunt in Heilbronn — „Three men and…“

“… so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace…“ (Isaiah 55,11-12)

To recognize what three men are capable of, you don’t necessarily have to have watched the movie “Three Men and a Cradle” – it becomes obvious when three men go out on a treasure hunt.
This is what happened in Heilbronn on Saturday. I’m briefly quoting the „Heilbronn-Report“:
„On Saturday, the three of us – Helmut, Harry and Jens S. – were on a treasure hunt in Heilbronn. Harry is originally from Hamburg and hasn’t been in Heilbronn for long. In Hamburg, he’s been sharing the Good News with people for more than 10 years. He’s like “Simon“ (Note: Simon is an amazing treasure hunter and friend who walks in great love and power of God.) We witnessed 5 people giving their lives to Jesus. Several encounters with Latinos were very special – Harry addressed them in Spanish (his roots are in the Dominican Republic). One woman was from Cuba. Harry shared some of his life’s stories, the woman and her friend were very moved. Her name even turned out to be on the treasure map. Now both of them were ready to invite Jesus into their lives. First, Helmut said the words, and then Harry translated into Spanish, so that they were able to pray and decide to live with Jesus. Afterwards, we met a mother with her daughter. We talked about baptism. There were some concerns about it, as there was resistance within the family. They could be encouraged to take this step, and also firmed up their decision for Jesus. Later on, we could pray for an older lady with a rollator. She had pain in her back. Jens prayed, and it decreased…. Helmut prayed, and it decreased even more…”

Usually, when we go on treasure hunts, we try to form mixed-gender teams of three people. That’s why this group of men was rather particular. But that’s how it proves once again: God has humour. Not “Three Men and a Cradle”, but 3 treasure hunters and 5 new children of God! “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” That’s exactly the way it is.
